Bclip Productions experienced a little bit of Christmas in October this fall when Milwaukee Tools™ came calling. For Bclip’s home improvement weekend warriors, working with one of the world’s leading power tool companies amounted to putting a group of kids in Santa’s workshop and saying, “have fun!”

Milwaukee Tools™ began by hiring Bclip to produce a premiere party for their new V18 Lithium Ion™ cordless tool lineup. The three minute video compared the power and longevity of their new batteries to the other competitors in their class. The one video quickly blossomed into three, and Bclip soon found itself creating similar videos for Milwaukee’s line of pneumatic tools, and their new Titan Trade Cart™.

Bclip Productions collaborated with Blue Ridge Motion Pictures to create an elaborate construction site in Sound Stage A within their Asheville facility. The set was built to mirror both residential and commercial sites in various stages of construction. After rigorous scripting and casting processes, the week of the shoot finally arrived. Jason Benjamin, an actor from Knoxville, TN, would become “the face of Milwaukee.” In addition to being an accomplished actor, Benjamin was also an accomplished contractor, and knew his way around a jobsite.

With all the pieces in place, the shoot was a tremendous success. The videos would eventually play on huge 16 x 9 plasma screens at the International Builders’ Show (IBS), and the Specialty Tools and Fasteners Distributors Association (STAFDA) Convention and Trade Show, the largest trade shows in the world for builders and contractors. This stipulated that Bclip shoot their video in the film-style 16 x 9 format and yielded some of our best footage to date.

The high quality of the video challenged Bclip’s graphic designers to exceed the level of creativity and professionalism expected by Milwaukee Tools™. The team rose to the challenge and produced a sleek, tough look perfectly suited to the established image of Milwaukee. The final result was three videos similar in design, unique in content, and superior in quality.

The project was a great challenge and proved to be one of the most enjoyable. The high level of expectations served to push the team farther, and bring them closer than they had been before. The future promises to hold more projects that test the creativity of the writers, shooters, editor and designers at Bclip Productions.
